WindClick was developed by Digital Engineering to offer simple online, cost-effective access to the most accurate, highest resolution UK wind speed map on the market on a pay-per-click basis. Users can search by postcode or area and then click to purchase any 50m grid square on the map to see highly-validated wind speed information for any turbine hub height, anywhere in the UK.
Developers and manufacturers already use WindClick to give them the edge when prospecting for new sites and identifying the optimum place to position wind turbines within those sites. Those who undertake high volume prospecting have chosen to purchase the whole map.
WindClick is proven to improve prospecting and feasibility. In tests to reassess sites that had previously been rejected by developers during pre-feasibility, it demonstrated that almost half could be progressed. In addition, an assessment of sites that had been progressed to feasibility showed that re-siting turbines would produce an increased average wind speed of +0.3 m/s with a maximum increase of 0.6m/s.
